Academic fields

Multidisciplinary knowledge is associated with more than one existing academic discipline or profession. It integrates aspects from multiple academic disciplines, therefore addressing any problems that may arise from narrow concentration within specialized fields of study.
A multidisciplinary community or project is made up of people from different academic disciplines and professions.
A multidisciplinary approach involves drawing appropriately from multiple academic disciplines to redefine problems outside normal boundaries and reach solutions based on a new understanding of complex situations.
Multidisciplinary approaches also encourage people to help shape the innovation of the future. Innovation across academic disciplines is considered the pivotal foresight of the creation of new products, systems, and processes for the benefit of all societies' growth and wellbeing.
In the Institute, multidisciplinary teams are brought together for short periods of time to work on specific problems in the real world for knowledge production. This fact can be explained by the way research funds are distributed among scientists and how scientists focus on obtaining these funds.
